Our Story

Kettle Black Kitchen is a family run business. Executive Chef Christopher Lund (Son-in-Law) and General Manager Sara Anderson (Mother-in-Law) take on the day to day operations. The rest of the family; Emily Lund, David Anderson, John Anderson, and David Anderson help out in all areas of the restaurant. As it's a small staff all are considered family.

Executive Chef Christopher originally from the San Francisco Bay area and where he started his culinary career. Moved to the Phoenix - Scottsdale area when he was 20 years old and decided to take on the Southwest. He was promoted to the Chef de Cuisine at Chef Matt Carter's renowned The Mission - Old Town Scottsdale and this is where he really found his love for creating flavor profiles that are sure to be mouthwatering.

Emily and Christopher met at a restaurant they both worked at in downtown Phoenix, while Emily was attending Arizona Culinary Institute. The relationship quickly blossomed into a marriage and two children Johnathan & Scarlet. They decided to move to Emily's hometown; Madison to raise their kids.

David and Sara's relationship blossomed while David was working as a cook and Sara a waitress at Alt n' Bach's Town Tap in the late 90's. While their journey took them to Colorado and back Sara continued to wait tables where ever they called home. After returning to Madison to raise their family Sara found her way back to Alt n' Bach's and worked there till they decided to close their doors in 2019. David and Sara had always enjoyed there time in the restaurant industry and brought that home with them as they love to host. Owning a restaurant was never far from their thoughts.

When the opportunity to purchase a restaurant on Monroe Street became available the family jumped on it.  Owning a restaurant only a couple miles from home, just felt right. All three kids (Emily, David, & John) and David are alumni of Madison West High School. Go Regents!
